Our Studio acknowledges the diversity of Aboriginal experience and supports the artistic practice of people from across the Pilbara.

STUDIO ARTIST HOURS

Monday – Friday • 9:00AM – 5:00PM

Over 100 emerging, mid-career and established artists make regular use of our Studio facilities, with a primary focus on contemporary acrylic painting. These are artists from many different language groups, including Kariyarra, Banyjima, Mangala, Manyjiljarra, Martu, Noongar, Nyangumarta, Nyamal, Nyiyarparli, Walmajarri, Warnman, Yamatji, Yindjibarndi.

A not for profit art centre, Spinifex Hill Studio is a full-service studio that supports a growing collective of Aboriginal artists throughout all stages of their painting journeys, including emerging, mid-career and established artists. Known to many as their ‘painting place’, Spinifex is a culturally safe space for artists from a variety of Indigenous cultural backgrounds to come together to paint, share culture, and learn new skills. We provide all art materials, promotional services and a selection of professional and creative development support workshops for artists all year round. There is no sign-up fee for artists, all they have to do is rock up and start painting!

As well as being the home of Spinifex Hill Artists, the Studio functions as a cultural hub for the broader Pilbara region. It is managed by non-profit cultural organisation FORM through a partnership with BHP, with support from the Federal Government’s Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support program.
